Anti-Pattern Sequences

Anti-Pattern Sequences are recurring progressions of interacting anti-patterns that commonly appear together in real systems.

Where individual anti-patterns describe structural failures in isolation, Anti-Pattern Sequences describe how those failures combine, reinforce one another, and unfold over time as recognizable failure pathways.

Anti-Pattern Sequences are diagnostic artifacts. They are used to:

  • identify recurring pathways of institutional breakdown
  • clarify how multiple anti-patterns interact
  • support forensic analysis
  • reveal causal mechanisms that may inform Civic Topology links

Anti-Pattern Sequences do not replace individual anti-patterns. They sit one level above them, describing how multiple anti-patterns behave in sequence rather than how any single anti-pattern operates alone.
